I began tatting with a shuttle but have since learned how to needle tat. I like both for different reasons and will use both throughout this challenge. I'll try to remember to designate which method was used for each motif.
Here are some ideas of tatting motifs I would like to make during the next 12 months:
- Celtic Pattern
- Edgings/Insertions
- Cluny Leaf
- Block Tatting
- Three-Dimensional Motif
- Vintage Motifs
I have already begun collecting patterns for these items and as soon as the holidays are over (or I finish all of my Christmas gifts, wrapping, and baking), I'll select a pattern and thread and begin tatting.
This is gonna be fun and I can't wait to get started!

Welcome to the 25 Motif Challenge! Can't wait to watch you progress through the new techniques and motifs you have chosen. If your challenge plays out at all like mine is, it will be a wonderful, empowering experience.
Hello!
Thanks for dropping by today and for the nice comment you left on my blog. Good luck with the 25 Motif Challenge! I think it will be a great way to learn new skills. I may sign up on the first, but haven't decided for sure yet. I want to work on T.A.T. Apprentice and Jane Eborall's Tat It And See. Is there such a thing as too much tatting?
:) Ann
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year
Thanks for your visit.
I'm excited about the 25 Motif Challenge because I think it will motivate me to continue to learn new techniques.
I'm in the mood to. My last one took me way to long, but things are looking up. Checking your list and cluny leaf is one of my next challenges. And I think it will be to!
