7th Motif - Clover Pendant and Bookmarks

I started the 25 Motif Challenge to learn new techniques. While the clover isn't new to me anymore, turning it into a pendant is. This is the first piece of tatted jewelry I've made.

I made a simple clover/chain motif and added beads to the center rings of the clovers and a charm to the bottom of one of the clovers.

What I found while making the pendant was how versatile small motifs can be. I made a couple more motifs and added them to shepherd's hooks and really like the way they turned out. I've given one of the bookmarks to a friend as a thank you gift and she thought it was lovely.

Very nice! This is how you end up designing, you know.

LOL - I've never thought of myself as a designer. I participated in one of Sharon's design classes and failed miserably. But I can see how being very familiar with various tatting techniques and repeats like clovers would make it easier to experiment a little and try new ways of putting things together.

Even though it was just a small motif, it was actually fun to see how it came together in the end.

I love your bookmarks and all the other beautiful things you have tatted. I just found your blog via the 25 motif challenge. I just ordered some of those metal bookmarks to do some tatting for but haven't had time to find the pattern I want to use. I am looking forward to seeing more of your tatting!

Thank you Wickedtats and Paula.

These little square clover motifs are fast and easy and look great. If you used a smaller thread, I think they would also be fantastic earrings.

What size thread did you use for these? They are beautiful. I might have to make something similar myself.
